The Water Crisis

Water scarcity is one of the most significant global problems of our generation. One in eight people alive today do not have access to clean water. It takes a toll on health, culture, and the economy on both a local and global scale. The inequality between highly developed and developing nations is stark.

While reading this, you are probably within feet of a clean water source, whereas residents of sub-Saharan Africa spend 40 billion hours each year walking the long distances between home and the nearest well. This task usually falls to women and children. Carrying buckets back and forth can virtually be the sole task of their whole lives.

The Solution

Using an international support network, the installation of water wells throughout sub-Saharan Africa will eliminate the dire search for clean water day in and day out. Women will be able to work, and children will be able to attend school. A single well enables an entire community to grow healthier, smarter, richer and stronger.

Thirst’s Promise

To take a stand against this inequity, Thirst has committed to partnering with a world-caliber water well charity. Every shoe purchase directly funds a well, empowering our customers to make a personal impact on one of the today’s most distressing injustices.
